Join Our After-School Camp Crew! (Part-Time, School Year 2025–2026)

Location: Hanahauʻoli School, 1922 Makiki St, Honolulu, HI 96822Application Deadline: August 5, 2025Start Date: August 12, 2025Schedule: Monday–Friday (12:15 pm or 2:00 pm–5:00/5:30 pm); earlier start on Wednesdays at 12:15 pm. Available all five weekdays when school is in session, preferred.

Hanahauʻoli is a small, progressive, independent K–6 elementary school in Honolulu, where children learn by doing. About the Role: After School Camp (ASC) Crew

As a member of the ASC Crew, you'll help create a safe, engaging, and joyful after-school environment for our students. You will:

  • Supervise and support a “Hui” (group) of approximately 14–17 students
  • Lead and facilitate daily routines, including outdoor play, arts and crafts, games, reading, and homework support
  • Escort children across campus, assist with snacks, and monitor transitions and emotional well-being
  • Support student participation in ASC special traditions like Joy of Art Days, Kūkulu Kumuhana (K2K) elder storytelling, and mixed-age play
  • Maintain accurate attendance and communicate regularly with caregivers and the program coordinator
  • Work collaboratively with other Crew members to plan and reflect on program improvements
  • Help with set-up, clean-up, and occasional school-wide or evening events

 

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • U.S. citizen or valid work visa
  • TB clearance and successful completion of Hawaiʻi State DHS fingerprinting/background check
  • Availability every weekday Hanahauʻoli is in session (including Wednesdays)
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children (in a classroom, camp, or caregiving setting)
  • Reliable, punctual, communicative, and flexible in a dynamic environment

Preferred:

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • College coursework in education, child development, or a related field
  • Familiarity with progressive education or child-centered pedagogy
