Cost Pricing Analyst

Job Summary:

The Cost Pricing Analyst is responsible for analyzing product and service costs, evaluating pricing strategies, and providing data-driven recommendations to optimize profitability and competitiveness. This role involves detailed cost and margin analysis, as well as collaboration with finance, sales, procurement, and operations to support accurate and effective pricing decisions.

The analyst manages item-level cost of goods and sales pricing for distributor customers, ensuring accuracy, profitability, and optimal revenue performance. Responsibilities include overseeing pricing management processes, executing timely pricing corrections and adjustments, and maintaining pricing integrity across systems.

This role requires advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas) and SQL for handling large datasets, generating reports, and conducting margin and variance analyses. High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive mindset are essential due to the critical impact of pricing accuracy on customer satisfaction and company profitability.

What You’ll Do:
  • Monitor product cost, pricing, and margin standards across categories to ensure profitability and support sales growth.
  • Identify and analyze product costs, ensuring both direct and indirect costs are accurately included in pricing.
  • Create and process weekly customer pricing updates; maintain accurate pricing in all internal and external systems.
  • Set up and maintain street sales rebates, allowances, bids, contracts, and customer/vendor agreements; ensure accurate contract setup in pricing systems.
  • Maintain accurate deviation programs, including promotions, allowances, rebates, and related terms; compute credits, debits, and vendor re-bills as needed.
  • Analyze and resolve pricing and billing discrepancies by working collaboratively across departments.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and prepare business reports to support decision-making.
  • Create customized, user-friendly SQL-based reports and analyze data using statistical methods to identify trends and insights.
  • Support senior leadership and finance business partners with IT-related and cross-functional projects.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-departmental projects in food service distribution, ensuring scope, feasibility, budget, timeline, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Monitor project progress, ensure compliance with company policies, and communicate updates regularly.
  • Promote continuous learning, process improvement, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation for internal workflows.
Education & Experience
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.  High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 3 years of customer service experience, preferably involving costing, pricing, deviation analysis, and supply chain activities.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to identify issues, errors, or omissions and propose solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, IF statements).
  • Ability to prepare accurate, complete, and easy-to-understand reports using large data sets extracted from an ERP system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate across departments and levels via in-person and digital channels (email, phone, chat).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient; proactive with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Previous experience with Track Max or other earned income tracking software.
  • 4–6 years of experience in food sales, procurement, or contracts in the foodservice industry is preferred.
