CAFETERIA ASSISTANT
REPORTS TO: Director/Administration and Cafeteria Manager
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: To assist, support, and work closely with the Cafeteria Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
v Practicing Catholic in full initiation with Church preferred.
v High school education or equivalent required.
v Be able to measure, cut or otherwise work on food items with great precision
v Must be able to prep food products using standardized food preparation techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v Assists cafeteria manager in preparing the meals (breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack) for students and staff.
v Sets up serving counters with plates and serving utensils before meals.
v Rotates dates of foods and snacks.
v Maintains general cleanliness of kitchen and eating areas.
v Collects and washes dishes, cooking utensils, pots and pans, and puts them away.
v Takes garbage bags to rubbish bin when full and after meal (lunch).
v Cleans and sanitizes work areas, counters and tables, kitchen equipment, such as food containers, trays, serving utensils, cooking ranges, refrigerators, etc.
v Receives and check deliveries of food and other supplies.
v Distributes supplies as needed to classrooms.
v Stores food properly in refrigerators and in storeroom.
v Keeps storage area in good order.
v Serves menu items, conscious of food safety and quality.
v Follows school procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the children
v Becomes knowledgeable of the emergency file and procedures/
v Knows the fire evacuation and procedures and assists in the supervision of required drills.
v Holds current first aid certificate and CPR certificate.
v Knows the procedure of reporting child abuse
v Documents all accidents and any emergency by the end of the day as it occurs
v Reports all accidents and emergencies
v Perform other duties and or/responsibilities as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager and/or Administration as necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
v Constant bending, twisting, lifting, pushing, and pulling
v Constantly standing
v Normally does not lift any object weighing more than 50 pounds.
