JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION NAME: Part-Time Computer Science/Engineering Teacher DEPARTMENT/GRADE LEVEL: High School

REPORTS TO: High School Dean EFFECTIVE DATE: 08-01-25

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The teacher collaborates in the effective operation of a Catholic education program by supporting the goals and spirit of Catholic education in general and the school programs in particular; ensuring an effective instructional program; continuing in professional growth; encouraging student educational growth.

A teacher is expected to have competencies in the following major areas:

IV. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in Computer Science and Engineering for grades 9–12, aligned with curricular standards. Willingness to receive Project Lead the Way training for Engineering curriculum.

B. Design and implement assessments that support mastery through project-based and authentic learning experiences.

C. Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including those with varied academic needs and learning differences.

D. Foster a collaborative, inclusive classroom environment that promotes curiosity and critical thinking.

E. Provide academic support outside of class and maintain open communication with students and families.

F. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and engage in ongoing professional development.

G. Fulfill assigned supervision duties and contribute to a safe, respectful school environment.

A. Keeps abreast of developments in curriculum and methodology

D. Completes necessary work toward obtaining and/or maintaining a valid teaching license

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s Degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in a school setting preferred.

• Educational and/or professional background in Computer Science or Computer Programming

• Thorough knowledge of Java programming and web design

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle, and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Teachers must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods. May need to climb stairs and lift, carry, push and/or pull items up to 50 pounds. Must be able to respond effectively to, and lead the class in emergency situations.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is usually performed in a classroom setting within the time frame established by the Grade School Dean. Employee is occasionally required to attend evening meetings and may oversee field trips and other special events.

SUPERVISION

Exercises working supervision over students, Educational Assistants and volunteers, as necessary.
