POSITION SUMMARY

This position is to support the Family First Hawaii initiative, providing “light touch” support to families very early in the process, generally in investigation or assessment status. The goal is to see if this type of support helps prevent children from being placed into foster care, therefore avoiding disruption within the family unit. This Navigator position is separate and different from EPIC Navigators in the Family Wrap program in that it focuses more specifically on flex funds and/or community connections, without the intensive assistance and involvement as part of a formal Wrap team.

 

The FFH Navigator helps provide community connection and flex fund support for the family and Parent Partner to ensure meaningful interactions and supports are accessible for families navigating Child Welfare Services system and `Ohana Conferencing. Provides continued support to the Parent Partner throughout the duration of involvement. The Navigator initiates, tracks, and finalizes all flex fund requests. Responsibilities include consulting with the Facilitator, Parent Partner, and/or family regarding concrete next steps.  Follows-up on tasks assigned and identifies any barriers or concerns. The Navigator will build effective connections with community partners and will maintain active awareness of community resources in the community a family identifies as their own. Housing pathways navigation is included in resource learning and connecting. Additionally, training and sharing of resource information with colleagues in the EPIC `Ohana agency as appropriate.
