We are seeking a skilled and passionate In-House Craftsman to join our team at Re-use Hawaiʻi. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to lead our workshop and Furniture Making Program, while contributing to our mission of promoting sustainable practices and community development.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and oversee all woodworking equipment and tools, ensuring they are in safe and operable condition - Keep the workshop clean, organized, and adherent to all safety procedures - Collaborate with management to create and market products made from salvaged materials - Prepare quotes for contracted work and establish financial objectives for the Furniture Making Program - Assist with Redistribution Center maintenance and improvements as needed - Manage inventory and ordering of workshop tools and supplies - Attend weekly Management Team meetings and contribute to collective goals - Provide technical assistance to team members regarding tools, materials, and projects - Oversee volunteers and workforce development participants as required
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of woodworking techniques and equipment - Strong organizational and time management skills - Ability to meet deadlines and drive projects to completion - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written - Professionalism and ability to represent the organization's values to the public - Enthusiasm for construction and demolition waste diversion and reuse - Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision - Adaptability to work with diverse individuals from various backgrounds - Ability to maintain composure and humor under pressure - Effective multitasking skills - Commitment to sustainable practices, community development, and resource preservation - Fluency in English required
