Production Specialist

The Production Specialist is responsible for enabling ’Ōlelo to achieve island-wide government coverage and support the daily operations of the Studio@theCapitol Media Center consistent with the ’Ōlelo Community Media’s policies and standards in the delivery of resources for the public, education, and government (PEG) sectors. The Production Specialist will focus on all production duties associated with ‘Ōlelo’s government productions including equipment set-up, productions duties, equipment breakdown, management of all equipment, and all other duties as assigned, including the engagement of various government community members. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to, the primary list below and other inherent duties and responsibilities associated with such a position.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Performs all aspects of production, pre-production, and post-production including equipment transport, set-up, management, utilization, breakdown, and overall management of the final product.
  • Support all aspects of developing and producing various government media services.
  • Assist with ‘Ōlelo events, including member, youth, volunteer, and outreach activities.
  • Train and mentor other team members as needed.
  • Work collaboratively to support the growth of various PEG initiatives and efforts, particularly in government access to information affecting our community.
  • Serve as crew in all stages of the production process (pre-production, production, and post-production) on ‘Ōlelo and Community Productions.
  • Engage government members by providing exemplary internal and external customer service providing access to all government agencies.
  • Support direct services to facilitate democracy and free speed and the production services provided by ‘Ōlelo. Support the various PEG initiatives and efforts, particularly in government access to information affecting our communities.
  • Due to the nature and content of certain Government Productions produced, expected to keep confidential any content, discussions, graphics, or material shared or distributed during Government Productions; likewise, always maintaining a professional demeanor during the setup, execution, and breakdown of the covered event.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in film, media, or graphic arts or one year of work experience in production, including Studio, field production, or post-production with increasingly technical responsibility preferred.
  • Technical aptitude and desire to learn new concepts and technology.
  • Experience working for non-profit organizations desirable.
  • PC knowledge, including Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Final Cut Pro and other Mac production software as needed. Experience and knowledge in the use of Adobe platforms are also a plus.
  • Ability to properly operate audio/video production and post equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot – minor diagnostic and repair capabilities.
  • Experience with customer service, and the ability to understand the dynamics involved in achieving excellence as it relates to customer service and satisfaction.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively and in partnerships with all other team members and partners, both at ‘Ōlelo and in the community, to effectively achieve common goals.
  • Access to adequate transportation, possession of a valid Hawaii driver’s license, safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance with at least the minimum state coverage requirements.
  • Clean criminal record: position involves working with and training minors.
  • Equipment inherent to this position.
Schedule & Availability:

This position requires a high degree of flexibility. Work schedules may vary from week to week and can include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Overtime may be required based on operational demands. Candidates must be adaptable and willing to adjust to changing priorities and scheduling needs.
