Dietary Cook
About the Role
Liliha Healthcare Center is looking for a dedicated Dietary Cook to join our culinary team. You'll play a key role in preparing safe, nutritious, and appealing meals for our residents — balancing standardized recipes, therapeutic diets, and individual dietary needs in a fast-paced, resident-centered environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of dietary/food service experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or similar medical setting preferred (not required)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes, and federal, state, and local food safety standards
- Process therapeutic diets, special diet orders, and diet changes received from Nursing Services
- Review menus ahead of preparation and adjust meals to meet portion control and presentation standards
- Prepare substitute meals for residents who decline served food, and prepare bedtime snacks
- Set up the food production line to ensure meals are ready and served on time
- Assist with serving meals as needed
- Ensure trays go out with the correct utensils and equipment for each resident
- Support daily kitchen cleaning duties per facility policy
- Help prepare food for special meals and facility events
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock of food, supplies, and equipment
- Complete required forms and reports for the Dietitian/Director of Food Services
- Implement guidance and process changes as directed by the Dietary Manager
- Other duties as assigned
