Job Mission: The mission of the MLL Teacher is to make visible and ensure the practice of Wai`alae School’s Beliefs about Learning by supporting Wai’alae students, faculty, staff, and families in leveraging the strength of multilingualism and multiculturalism and by making learning accessible for active MLs in the general education classroom.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree: You must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in education or a related field
Completion of a State-Approved Teacher Education Program (SATEP)
Active Hawai’i Teacher Standards Board (HTSB) license in TESOL (K-5)
Elementary School Faculty provide facilitation of student learning for the following outcomes:

Specific Duties:
Implement English language development (ELD) strategies and inclusive practices and provide resource materials to support MLs in the general education classroom
Conduct informal assessments and provide appropriate reporting for active MLs
Monitor progress of Monitoring MLs in the general education classroom
Collaborate regularly with the ML Coordinator to adjust schedules, analyze student data, design specific teaching and learning plans/experiences for each ML, complete progress reports (trimester 1 and 3), and plan PD opportunities for Wai`alae School faculty
Collaborate with general education teachers to discuss schedules, specific teaching plans and units, and specific student learning plans, progress, and goals
Communicate openly with families of MLs and attend meetings, when necessary
Complete annual WIDA certifications
Administer and/or proctor WIDA tests, when necessary
Teach ELD lessons in small groups or 1:1(pull-out services) for specific MLs (newcomers/beginners to English), when necessary
