Substance Treatment Counselor
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Treatment Counselor to join our team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive counseling services, develop individualized treatment plans, and support clients on their journey to recovery in a professional and supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' substance use history, mental health status, and treatment needs. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, establishing measurable goals and objectives for recovery. Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches and interventions. Monitor client progress throughout treatment and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory standards. Facilitate psychoeducational groups covering topics such as relapse prevention, coping skills, and recovery strategies. Coordinate care with other healthcare providers, family members, and community resources to support comprehensive treatment. Conduct crisis intervention when necessary and provide appropriate referrals for additional services. Educate clients and families about substance use disorders, treatment options, and available resources. Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and continuing education opportunities to maintain professional development. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing substance abuse treatment programs. Advocate for clients' needs and rights throughout the treatment process.
Requirements:
Valid state certification or licensure as a substance abuse counselor or eligibility for certification. Minimum of two years of experience providing substance abuse counseling services. Strong knowledge of substance use disorders, treatment modalities, and recovery principles. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Proficiency in electronic health records systems and documentation practices. Strong crisis intervention and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as program needs require. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for potential community-based services.
