ACI Participant (Full Time) - XLR8HI, Wordpress Developer

XLR8HI is looking for an experienced WordPress Developer to assist in the planning, execution and optimization of our online presence. As Hawaii’s Entrepreneurship Center, we collaborate with and provide services to hundreds of local small businesses and startups. We are looking to grow our online presence and support our portfolio of small businesses online. Our team firmly believes in data-driven decision making. Therefore, we rely heavily on analytics to gain insights into our audience and marketing strategies. We are looking for a curious individual eager to test multiple online strategies and drive valuable insights from marketing campaigns while providing engaging and relevant content to our followers. As a WordPress Developer at XLR8HI, you will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including managing WordPress themes and plugins. We are expecting you to have a strong understanding of latest industry trends and content management systems.The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful web design to create amazing user experiences. The successful candidate will be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts. They will be able to transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional designs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing new features and functionality

• Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture

• Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS

• Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme 

• Develop layouts for our websites.

• Research design trends and proactively provide innovative ideas for design solutions in support of objectives and initiatives

• Update company websites and blogs via WordPress

• Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to communicate interaction and design ideas

• Test the effectiveness of designs by recording and analyzing performance metrics

• Analyze deployed SEO strategy and provide insights and recommendations for future campaigns

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Highly proficient at building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications including Wordpress, Wix, Squarespace, and/or Shopify

• Highly proficient in Google Analytics

• Strong understanding of PHP back-end development

• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites

• Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.

• Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages

• Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery 

• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML) a plus

• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial}}
