ACI Participant (Full Time) - XLR8HI, Grant Writer

XLR8HI is looking for a bright, experienced individual to join our fundraising team as a Grant Writer. As Hawaii’s Entrepreneurship Center, we collaborate with and provide services to hundreds of local small businesses and startups. We are looking to serve and support the local community via various community focused grant and funding opportunities. In addition to researching and writing grant proposals, you will be in charge of maintaining a grants calendar to monitor the application process and keep track of various deadlines. You should feel comfortable reaching out to institutional and potential donors, as well as communicating with company leaders. Our ideal candidate is someone who will be able to enthusiastically help our organization attain the funding and donations it needs to serve the community.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.

  • Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies, studying requests for proposals (RFPs), and identify new funding opportunities.

  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmission.

  • Coordinates requirements with contributors and contributes proposal status information to review meetings.

  • Gather proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.

  • Develop proposals by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.

  • Write, revise, and edit drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.

  • Prepare presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding and coordinating printing.

  • Maintain quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.

  • Obtain approvals by reviewing proposals with management.

  • Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate.

  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.

  • Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Maintain a grants calendar to monitor progress.

  • Enter and monitor tracking data. Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.

  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.

  • Communicate and maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders such as potential donors and institutional donors.

  • Write sponsorship packages.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, creative writing or a related area (master's degree preferred).

  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in grant writing.

  • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process.

  • Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization.

  • Excellent research and knowledge of information sources.

  • Multitasking, organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Experience with non-profit fundraising a plus.
