KKV is a federally qualified health center that was founded by community leaders in 1972 in response to a lack of health services for Kalihi's low income, largely-immigrant Asian and Pacific Islander residents.  Understanding health as wellbeing in the broadest sense, KKV pioneers holistic approaches to addressing the needs and aspirations of its culturally rich community. KKV's 270 staff care for more than 15,000 Kalihi residents a year in over 20 different languages and dialects from nine locations.

POSITION OPENINGS:  One FULL time position open (40 hours a week)

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for securing financial resources for Kokua Kalihi Valley (KKV) and for developing written materials that represent KKV's vision and mission. 

Special consideration given to multicultural/multilingual candidates and those with a connection to the ahupuaʻa of Kalihi.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Skills/Knowledge: Effective verbal and written communication skills, required.

  Organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy, required.

  Demonstrate the ability to obtain funds and resources for non-profit organizations, required.

  Ability to work with a multi-cultural staff and population, required.

  Ability to conceptualize and synthesize heterogeneous sources of information into coherent proposals, required.

• Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in English or related field, required.

  Master’s degree in related field, preferred.

  Proficient in computer office software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PageMaker and/or other desktop publishing software, required.

• Experience: One year experience working in grant writing or related job, required.

  One year experience working in a community health setting, required.

SCHEDULE: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Saturday; Equivalent to a 40 hour a week schedule with regular and predictable attendance. This is a Hybridl position where Grant Writer will work from home during the regularly set hours and weekly on-site office work.

• Bereavement Leave: After 3 month probation eligible employees can take paid time off for Bereavement Leave 24 hours where no travel is required, 40 hours for out of state travel.  

• Jury Duty: Time off for Jury duty: KKV will pay employees the difference between normal rate of pay and sum provided by the court for a maximum of 1 month.
