Summary

The Clinical Information Specialist (CIS)is Waimanalo Health Center’s clinical support for use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR).This position primarily supports the medical clinic providers and support staff with initial training and set up of templates, favorites, orders, etc.; develops best practice workflows; trains all providers and support staff on workflows; develops new workflow in collaboration with providers and support staff when there are upgrades and new processes and monitors effectiveness and outcomes of implementing workflows and process changes. The CIS provides fast and useful technical assistance, answers queries on basic technical issues, and offers advice to solve them. The CIS must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate that knowledge effectively. They must be able to understand the user’s problem, resolve it, and train the provider on the process/workflow. They must be customer-oriented,responsive, exercise patience, and use a minimum amount of jargonin dealing with non-technicalstaff.
