Janitorial Worker (Continuous)

POSITION SUMMARY

Accomplish daily operation of the assigned janitorial contract work.  Individual will support fellow co-workers while performing janitorial duties: cleaning, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, etc. to keep buildings clean and in an orderly condition.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Performs janitorial services including but not limited to:

1. Clean and sanitize all bathroom surfaces.
2. Cleaning of all offices, empty trash, replace liners, dust surfaces, wipe walls.
3. Remove trash and recyclables from buildings and transport to appropriate bins.
4. Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and vacuuming.
5. Sweep sidewalks and lanai area(s).
6. Clean all windows, louvers and screens
7. Clean and polish water fountains
8. Remove cobwebs and dust
9. Strip/Wax/Shampoo Carpets/Floors
10. Restock all supplies
11. Keep work vehicles clean and organized
12. Assist Vocational Instructor to complete or perform contract work.
13. Use and maintain janitorial equipment as directed.
14. Communicate to Vocational Instructor regarding issues with condition and maintenance of equipment.
15. Participate in the overall safety, health and well-being of participants. 
16. Adhere to all policies and procedures. 
17. Treat all persons with respect.
18. Refer all inquiries to the Vocational Instructor
19. Performs job responsibilities accurately, timely and in a professional manner.
20. Attend required meetings and training sessions.
21. Maintain compliance with The Arc of Hilo’s Employee and Safety Handbook.
22. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Vocational Instructor or other designated person.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience:  Basic janitorial experience helpful. 

 

Other Requirements

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.  Must be able to maintain an acceptable criminal abstract from the State of Hawaii, as determined by the company. Must be able to maintain Protective Services Central Registry clearances from Adult Protective Services (APS) Central Registry and Welfare Services (CWS) Central Registry.
