The Broadcast Engineering Specialist is responsible for ensuring the technical quality and reliability of broadcast transmission and production facilities. This role involves maintaining troubleshooting and repairing broadcast equipment and supporting live broadcasts and production operations. The Broadcast Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring seamless and high-quality broadcasting.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONISIBILITIES:
- Assists with design, implementation, and operation of multi-tier, integrated production and streaming systems, employing best practices, leveraging new technologies, analyzing metrics, and optimizing workflows.
- Install, configure, maintain, and repair broadcast, production, and streaming equipment, including cameras, audio systems, and IP-based systems.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure all equipment operates smoothly.
- Assists in researching, testing, acquiring, deploying, and maintaining an accurate inventory of production equipment and related purchases as assigned.
- Provide expert technical support for live broadcasts/streamed content, studio productions, and remote events, hybrid meetings, ensuring all equipment operates smoothly.
- Maintain detailed accurate inventory tracking/asset documentation along with maintenance records and schedules, in addition to repairing and maintaining equipment.
- Develop and deliver training and support materials for production staff and team members on the proper use and maintenance of broadcast and production equipment.
- Supports planning, execution, and management of technical projects, including studio upgrades, new installations, and system migrations.
- Stays current with industry developments and trends, suggesting new technologies and practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.A, B.S., or associate degree in Electronics (broadcast, production, IP systems), or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum two years of experience with broadcast, streaming, or media production equipment and systems.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining broadcast, production, and streaming equipment.
- Strong understanding of RF technology, signal flow, IP-based equipment and technologies, encoding/decoding, and broadcast transmission systems.
- Familiarity with modern streaming platforms and related technologies (RTMP, HLS, SRT, etc.)
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
